It is safe to say I fell head over heels for Comet when he came in for his initial assessment. He is having physiotherapy to help manage his osteoarthritis, with the goals of improving his overall comfort and wellbeing, encouraging better mobility and maintaining that all-important muscle mass.
I am often told by owners that there is nothing that can be done for their older dogs. That is absolutely not the case. In Comet’s sessions we combine:
- Laser therapy to his joints and areas of back tension, for pain relief and to help reduce inflammation.
- PEMF therapy to support comfort and calm the persistent nerve signalling that comes with pain and stiffness.
- Heat and massage to soothe tight, overcompensating muscles.
- Home exercises: slow lead walking, gentle weight shifting and passive range of motion.
Comet is always happy to receive his laser treatment, with the added bonus of wearing the coolest goggles in Norfolk. Our older dogs deserve the world, and it is a joy to help them live as comfortably as possible.
